The educational program of the Islamic School of Rhode Island has been developed with the ultimate aim to prepare students to be the best Muslim citizen possible.  That is one who consciously worships Allah (swt) and diligently promotes Islamic values; according to the teachings of Al-Qur’an and Al-Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw).

The ISRI curriculum is designed to spiral across grade levels, increasing in complexity and level of mastery each year.  Teachers strive to help students make connections across curricular areas to provide experiences that stimulate learning in all developmental areas – spiritual, physical, social, emotional and intellectual - through an integrated approach to learning.

Major subject areas are Qur’an, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, Language Arts, Computer Studies, Art, Library, Physical Education and Health.

We have designed our curriculum in keeping with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) designed for the state of Rhode Island. We use Scott Foresman Curriculum Language Arts, and Social Studies in Elementary school. For Science, we are using MCGraw-Hill curriculum for elementary school, and Glencoe Curriculum for Middle School. We use Holt Mcdougal Common Core Curriculum for English Language Arts for Middle School. For Math, we have Scott Foresman Curriculum enforced for Grades K-8. Extra-curricular activities and school field trips is provided for all classes.

Also, the Islamic School of Rhode Island strongly emphasizes the development of Islamic behavior and personality.  Daily instruction includes different aspects of Islamic manners, prayers and how to maintain an Islamic personality in a non-Islamic society.

ISRI provides a supportive and nurturing environment in which children are active learners, growing in self-confidence and respecting people and the environment around them. In this welcoming atmosphere, important lifelong attitudes to school and to learning are established.

In a structured setting, Pre-kindergarten teachers creatively teach readiness skills in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Motor Skills, Arabic and Islamic studies, thus providing a solid foundation for the full curricular kindergarten program.

In Kindergarten, students build on the Readiness Program begun in pre-kindergarten and move toward the full curriculum of reading, Language Art, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Library, Art and Physical Education.
